Growing up my parents would take us to visit my Aunt and Uncle who lived near Rockford, Michigan. We would go to the little downtown area and have lunch at a place called Arnies, a local favorite place to dine for many years. Nearby there were some local shops and a couple train cars down by the river.
Well, there was a glass blower in the mix of all of this. This glass blower was either in one of the train cars or a building right near by. In my memory he was in the caboose, but I was 7 or 8 years old and my memory of it might not be exact. Anyhow, I would always ask to go see the glass blower when we went. It was so mesmerizing and intriguing to me.
Many years later, about 40 to be exact, I was gifted an experience of making a paperweight. After that experience I was hooked. I took many more "make it and take it" classes as well as some one-on-one instruction. Then I saw the torches in the lamp-working studio after one of my "make it and take its" and decided to give that a try.
Well, that was the start of my current addiction. I now have my own equipment in a garage studio and have started selling my work. I enjoy making glass art creations for people to enjoy and consider it a huge honor that people spend their hard earned money on something I've made.
